The 90 Days Series
90 days… It's what it takes to be outside the European Union while I was waiting for a visa. 90 days is what it takes to discover Albania and Montenegro… It’s what it takes to feel deeply attached to Albania. I never dreamed of this place; it had never been on my “must-see before I die” list. At first, it was only a temporary place to wait… but something happened. The untouched landscape, the ruins, the people, the garbage, the history, the resilience, the bunkers, the new freedom… I knew nothing about Albania, and now I keep thinking about it.

Grand Esprit represents a universal spiritual force and supreme being for the Native American people. Feathers are considered a sacred gift from the Great Spirit, and when a feather falls to the earth, it is viewed as a divine blessing from the Creator, infused with unique energy. The white feathers signify purity and peace.
Himare Bunker Albania
The myth of Icarus inspired this creation. The sun-drenched feathers contrast strikingly against the blue backdrop of the Acariene Sea, but instead of being made of wax, these feathers are captured in ice. I created this artwork before I realized I would establish my new studio in Crete, where the legend took place. Now, two islands—Newfoundland and Crete—which are opposite, are enclosed in this creation.
Sarande Albania
La danse du feu is a remembrance of traditional Native American dances that were prohibited in Canada in 1876. They were considered illegal and subject to penalties for practicing. What an aberration! The dances were performed to the rhythm of the drum, recounting stories of dreams, visions, and battles. The dance of fire represents unity and the perfect cycle of things, and according to legend, red is the only colour spirits can see.
